The importance of the lawful interception as a supporting tool to investigations has motivated the authorities, around the globe, to pass legislation ensuring that the lawful interception would be executed in an ethical and efficient manner.
In Brazil and in other countries, where the legislation is already consolidated, the lawful interception is evolving rapidly with the sophistication of the intelligence technologies and processes used by the authorities. In addition to requiring solutions for analyzing the intercepted data, the authorities are also demanding a higher quality of the received content.
In general, when an authority needs to intercept a target of an investigation, they send an official notice to the operator from which the target intercepted is subscriber. After receiving the warrant, the operator begins a series of procedures that result in sending the communication data and related content to the authority.
Frequently, the transmission of intercepted communication happens via public network, without confidentiality or security. This opens up the possibility of fraud and/or technical problems, such as:
- Delayed delivery of information
- Missed calls
- Network congestion
- Non-optimized link
- Instable connection
- Non-correlated data
which may jeopardize the generation of reliable evidence and, consequently, lawsuits’ progress.
Suntech, which has also developed VIGIA, has launched a system to optimize the work of the authorities aiming for the effective transmission of intercepted communication. The investigative work gained now a strong ally that guarantees a better performance in lawful interceptions transmission.
